ASSIGNMENT OPTION #1
-CHARACTER

Script and Character profiles OR Treatment, Character Profiles and Flowchart

Describe an interview or conversation involving characters who are distinctive with regard to their appearance, temperament, being and conduct.   One character is extremely depressed.   They must also interact with their environment and be capable of compelling and reacting to conflict. You may respond in linear or interactive form.

In addition to character, please also give careful consideration also to location and action, do the relationships between character, action and location in your piece provide opportunities for dynamic and engaging interaction?

You will also sumbit character profile for each of your characters, in total each profile should be approximately 350 words. The profile should include a description of each of your characters from both an external and internal viewpoint. This document should be a useful development tool. You should consider the following questions as you think about your characters. Who are they? What do they look like? What do they want or need out of the interaction or interview that you are describing? What are they prepared to do get what they want? Please note that  your script or treatment should still stand alone, containing all  of the information required to communicate the story. Please submit your character profile with your linear or interactive responses.

Interactive Treatments should be approximately two to three pages in length and Script Form responses should be between three and five pages in length-this does not include the title page or additional documents. Additional documents (Character Profiles), will have word limits defined in the brief and are submitted in addition to the scripts and treatments.

For Interactive responses, please follow the Interactive Interactive Treatment form as laid out on my notes on form page and submit accompanied by a flow chart and Character Profiles.

-Submission of Linear Responses
Please submit linear works in Screen Australia script form, accompanined by a Character Profiles.You will find a script form example here and useful tips and hints on the notes on form page. You will findYou will find CELTX script writing softward on your computers should you choose to use it.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

In assessing your Scripts or Interactive Treatments and flowcharts, we will be looking for the following;

-The strength of your concept; is it a strong idea, does is it feel orginial, innovative?

-The structure of your concept, have you found the best possible dramatic and conceptual framing for your ideas? Do your ideas unfold and resolve effectively for example?

-Your use of the element of character within your assignment and your response to brief. Have you read and utilised the scenario laid out in the brief? Are your characters distinctive for example, are they in conflict with each other?

-Clarity of communication and use of the form (Script, Character Profile, or flowchart for example) Have you used the forms described in the brief to articulate your ideas effectively and coherently?
